The Persecution of Hank Greenberg

Earlier this month in New York City, a 91-year-old man who fought on Normandy beach during World War II and later fought in the Korean War was dragged into a courtroom and drilled with questions for five days by a team of government-paid prosecutors. There are no witnesses to testify against him, and no claim of damages. The government's ultimate objective is to bar the man from working in the securities industry, though it also hopes to force him to forfeit bonuses that he earned nearly two decades ago. The case has been in the works for 11 years. Initially nine charges were filed, but now only two remain. The trial is expected to last into next year.
