Is Anthony Weiner Behind the Email Crisis?

(John Hinderaker) The Wall Street Journal has up to date reporting on the mysteries surrounding Huma Abedin's newly-discovered emails. The Journal's account answers some questions, while raising others. First, the "device" in question reportedly is a laptop that Huma Abedin considered to be Anthony Weiner's. This makes sense: people like Abedin and Weiner don't share laptops, any more than they share cell phones. They each have their own. Thus, when Huma testified

Need for Warrant May Delay Resolution to Clinton Email Case

FBI Director James Comey came under pressure on Sunday to quickly disclose details of the newly discovered emails related to Hillary Clinton's private server, but the bureau must obtain a search warrant before agents can even examine the emails.

Sources familiar with the matter said the FBI had concluded it could not thoroughly explore the material without additional legal authorization in the form of a search warrant, which would normally require approval from a judge or magistrate.

The ethics of colonizing Mars

Illustration: Valles Marineris, Mars. Artwork of Valles Marineris canyon system as the Sun sets. It is found on Mars, the fourth planet in our Solar System. The Valles Marineris is over 4000 kilometres (km) long, up to 200 km wide and up to 7 km deep, dwarfing the Grand Canyon of Arizona, USA. The canyons are found on the southeastern edge of the Tharsis Bulge and were originally created by faulting during the formation of Tharsis. The canyons have been further worn down by water and wind erosion. Finally, slumping has helped widen the canyon so that the bottom is visible from space. Should we take ourselves to other planets? Human rationality and values have woven dark, damaged, all-powerful systems into the tapestry of civilization. Most notably: capitalism and consumerism. Do we see ourselves moving planet to planet, sucking life out of each one for our own survival? If we are to impress ourselves onto this universe, we must solemnly inquire about our impact on it. The Professionals

Twilight Warriors explains how the U.S. national security apparatus has adapted to fight post-9/11 terrorism. The book begins in 2002 with an examination of interrogation strategies employed against al Qaeda officers captured in Afghanistan. There were two conflicting approaches. The author, journalist James Kitfield, asserts that, while FBI teams built relationships with their detainees and then carefully broke down their resistance to interrogation to gather valuable intelligence, the CIA took a more aggressive and, he argues, unproductive approach.
